A dreamy day at Crystal Castle

A dreamy day at Crystal Castle

Where on earth is Crystal Castle?

Nestled in the hills of the Byron Bay Hinterland, just 35 – 40 minutes from our Hotel at Montecollum, you will find the enchanting and awe inspiring Crystal Castle and Shambhala Gardens. A utopia that emanates peace and relaxation amongst some of the world’s largest crystals intentionally placed throughout the artistically curated gardens, ponds and forest.

If this sounds like something only from a dream, we can confirm it feels like you’re dreaming once you step foot in this sanctuary. But soon the delightful smells of blossoming gardenias, lavender and frangipanis remind you, this is real life, as it should be. Step away from the hustle and bustle of holidaying and take a day to simply be for a while.

What will you find at Crystal Castle?

Crystal Castle has thoughtfully provided everything you could possibly need for a beautiful day out, no matter the weather. You will find the Lotus Cafe, serving delicious organic food, catering for many dietary requirements. Sip on a freshly brewed coffee, chai or cacao as you meander the gardens or exquisite gift shop.

Be sure to sink into the soothing sound healing sessions included free in your ticket price at the Sacred Peace Dome. You can even sit inside the world’s largest amethyst geode cave.

Admire the largest blessing Buddha in Australia and be in awe of the Crystal Guardians – the world’s tallest geode pair, weighing over 20 tonnes!

Circle the World Peace Stupa – a project blessed by the Dalai Lama.

Of course there’s a wonderful playground for children and even free face painting on weekends and school holidays!

Don’t worry about the weather, they have thoughtfully provided colourful rainbow umbrellas to wander the gardens with if it rains (it’s actually even more special in the rain).

When was Crystal Castle Founded?

In 1985, Naren King first stumbled upon the glorious land that Crystal Castle sits on today. But it looked very different back then, bare land with only one structure on it, a harmoniously designed circular building with no sharp corners. The same one that still stands proud today. Since then Naren and his wife Sono and eventually their children too have collectively created the magic place that we can enjoy today. They have taken careful consideration to regenerate the rainforest and make it a sanctuary for flora and fauna too.

“It’s our joy to offer the Crystal Castle experience to you. It’s our life’s work. We hope you enjoy it”. – Naren and Sono King, Founders.
